Walgreens is a great place to shop and has a nice rewards system set up for their customers. We are always getting a lot of question about them, so let's do an overview.
POINTS --
In the picture above with the razors is how you normally will see points written out. There will also be tags below the products in store. Some will say "10,000 points when you spend $30 on eligible products" others might say "5,000 points when you buy 2". You can stack points in a single transaction. Meaning, you can buy several different products that all acquire points in one transaction.
Points redeem like this - 5,000 points is equivalents to $5, 10,000 = $10, etc.
You can redeem points immediately on your next purchase or you can save them. You can redeem points in the amounts shown above. Although, I have been able to redeem 2k points before. The nice thing about points, is that if you earn 18,000 points it magically turns into $20 points. If you get 40,000 it becomes $50.
Points expire in 3 years - or in 6 months if there is no activity on your account. You can NOT redeem points and earn points at the same time. Example, you are buying $30 in shaving cream to get 10,000 pts. You cannot redeem any points on that purchase AND earn points. If you redeem points, you will not be able to earn the points on that product. However, you can redeem Register Rewards on a transaction that earns points.
REGISTER REWARDS --
Register rewards are Catalina's that print out with your receipt. If you buy something, for example the Colgate in the top left of the picture and earn $3 Register Rewards (RRs), it will print after you pay and your receipt prints. This will be good on your next purchase and you can use it on toilet paper, make up, soap, etc.. It doesn't need to be Colgate. They will scan it like they do with coupons. They usually expire within a couple of weeks.
If you are buying different products that earn RR's, you need to do them in separate transactions.
If you are buying toothpaste that earns RR's and deodorant that ears RR's. You will have to do them in two transactions. If you are buying multiple sets, you will still need to do them in different transactions.
You cannot redeem RR's on items that earn RR's... but you can redeem points on products that earn RR's.
