If you are going to buy local inserts, the dollar store is the cheapest place.  Please note, if you buy local inserts they may not have all of the coupons you hear about.  Some of those are regional, and vary according to different states.   If you have heard about a really good deal, but can't seem to find the coupon, you can use coupon clipping services.  These people basically charge for sorting and clipping coupons.  It's a great route to go if there's one in particular you want a few of and can't seem to find them.
Another great way to find a particular coupon is through facebook!  There is probably a Facebook coupon group for your city/town that people often trade in.  A great group for southern Oregon is "Southern Oregon Couponing".  There is no coupon selling in there, but you can trade or give away.

Keep an eye out for deals a few days prior to them starting.   Make sure to check back frequently on our Facebook page or website to see some of them.   Also, knowing when stores begin and end sales.   Example:  Walgreens sales start on Sunday and end on the following Saturday night.

Organize, organize, organize!  When you start seeing the ads role out, make a list of what appeals to you.   Compare them to other store ads to find the best price.   Write down what items you are wanting, their sale price, and which coupons you will be using with AND if they receive rewards or points.  That way you can keep track of how much you should be paying and make sure you receive the right amount of RR or points. This helps cut down on register anxiety, and will help you catch little errors, like forgetting to hand one of the coupons over.   Example:
Crest Prohealth Mouthwash
On sale 3/$9
Use (3) $2/1
= $3
Receive $1.50 RR

If you are driving all the way across town to pick up a great deal, you can always call ahead and make sure they still have some in stock.   You can't check on your entire list, that's impractical, but one or two items is usually okay.
